On 7/15 I wrote a post about Armenia St. between Costa Rica & El Salvador.Today let’s stroll one more block along Armenia St.After crossing El Salvador St, you’ll find Jazmín Chebar (this designer, who was one of the firsts to settle down in Palermo Viejo, now has stores on shopping malls). Next to it, Adelante (clothing) invites you to step inside this house turned into a store. Then, you can try on some shoes at Mandarine and after that, you can have a coffee at Barseis or go upstairs to new Little Rose and have sushi & tea. Ready to continue? Check out some more shoes at Sybil Vane (you can also get them at the malls), get a cool umbrella at Seco and glasses at Exe. Pablo Battaglia’s boutique is next and then Raíces Cautivas offers T-shirts with ethnique motifs. Before crossing the street, get some “facturas” (Argentine […]

WE WERE THE ARTISTAS INVITADAS AT THE EL CONVENTILLO MILONGA IN LA PLATA, ARGENTINA, September 16, 2006
This milonga is held only once a month at the University, and is very heavily attended by young and old. The Salon de Espejos is a huge space! The local TV station also interviewed us, but you couldn’t hear the voices over the music. Too bad, because I was speaking such excellent Castellano!!!

WHY I AM HAPPY TO BE BACK IN BUENOS AIRESDes Nivel.I don’t think Chico and I said one word to each other over dinner last night except, “please pass the salt” and “should we order one more bottle of wine?” Des Nivel (in San Telmo) has the best lomo, chorizo, puree de papas, provolonetta, and tinto de la casa. And the best waiter. And the best meat man.

PUM PUM a shot in the city
PUM PUM is an exponent of the Street Art in Buenos Aires. Child figures, rabbits with great ears, bears , sentimental cats, and doubtful zombies are figures who arise from the talent to shape drawings with aerographs and markers. All Buenos Aires is the natural space of her works, although the district of Palermo is the area where more of her drawings could be seen. The new location of the kitsch bar “Mundo Bizarro” (Serrano 1222, Palermo) was a reason to PUM PUM painted the baths walls.
If you are in Buenos Aires, you must check the corner of Córdoba and Humboldt, where more drawings could be seen. The sweepings baskets that the government of the city replaces time and time again are their favourites. It seemed to be that before their eyes are these baskets like great linen cloths that need to be drawn. […]

Restaurant recommendations

If you are thinking that Buenos aires has a tremendous variety of exciting food options you will be disapointed. The main spices in the porteno diet is sugar and salt in huge quantities.
In my area Palermo soho there are over 300 reataurants and I would say that only 20 serve excellent food and these are my recommendations
La cabrera Cabrera 5099 . My recommendation for the best baby beef in town and great place in atmosphere and service.
Sarkis arab restaurant located on Thames 1101. Beautiful meze and huge servings at a very reasonable price. Make sure that you visit on Monday night for belly dancing.
Moche for excellent peruvian food Nicaragua 5901
Thymus outstanding place must be visited once when in Buenos aires Lerma 525
Bon appetit
Natural Phenomenon Week

So, this past week ive had some definite run-ins with mother nature…I experienced an earthquake, 2 very harsh hail storms, an electrical lightning storm, and some other thing im not sure what it was but it made the sky red at night. The earthquake was definitely a long way away from Cordoba, but it is not uncommon that Cordoba feels the effects of earthquakes in Chile, Bolivia, or Western Argentina. After looking at a log of all the earthquakes there are in the world.. there is actually a large number, few of these actually do damage. I was at my table writing and i felt my body swaying and i wanted to make sure i wasnt going crazy so i went to my balcony and then checked the hanging lamp shades, and they were swaying some… it lasted a while, about 1 minute. that was my first earthquake […]
